Investing in our kids for the future of the Territory

Student studying in the library

The Territory is investing to keep university students in the NT with the latest round of Higher Education Scholarships for Year 12 leavers.

Thirty students received a scholarship worth $5,000 annually for the minimum term to complete their chosen full-time course.

These scholarships provide much needed support for students embarking on further study and is an important step towards upskilling Territory kids for the future.

“We are investing in Territorians by supporting them to further their knowledge and skills, to ensure local people can take up skilled job opportunities here in the Territory.” - Selena Uibo, Minister for Education

The scholarships was also available to students who had to relocate interstate to study a course not offered in the Northern Territory, provided it qualified them for employment in a field listed on the NT Skills Occupation Priority List.

These occupations have been identified as in high demand or critical to the local economy and industry. Obtaining qualifications for these occupations will give Territory kids a great opportunity to return to the Territory and grow their career while making a real impact for the community.
