Working in housing and community development

Worker presenting to a meeting

Housing and community development provide a number of key services to Territorians, particularly those living in remote communities and those who are disadvantaged.

These include providing accommodation pathways and housing options, supporting the local government sector, providing interpreter and translation services and leading homelands, land tenure and the provision of Aboriginal essential services.

The work they do is intrinsic to our community and the flow-on effects impact the health, education and growth of our communities.

The Northern Territory Government is committed to improving housing across the 73 communities in the Territory with an investment of $1.1 billion over 10 years.

The Remote Housing Investment Package – Our Community. Our Futures. Our Homes – will focus on local decision making, engagement and planning. The initiative will also focus on local participation to deliver the work, to promote local economic development and develop local skills to build and manage housing.

The department is striving to put people first and are recruiting passionate and dedicated people to join them in changing the lives of people in our communities.
